Description

Tradition, nature, food and wine: these are the pillars that sustain the community of San Vincenzo Valle Roveto. The town, the comprises 8 fractions – each one with its own identity and history – is the ideal place if you love hiking, food, and wine.

Its history is strictly connected to the abby of Casamari and the town of Civita d’Antino. The earthquake of 1915 destroyed mostly of the houses, and population sharply diminished. The town started developing again after WWII. Here you can take a hike among the olive trees and visit the remains of the Piccolomini Castel, as well as the hermitage of Madonna del Romitorio, a small church visited every year by thousands of tourists.

During the years, San Vincenzo managed to develop a network of associations dedicated to the production of olive oil and the rediscovery of the ancient olive-presses through the promotion of the due local varieties, the Monicella and the Alvia. Today, there are many businesses built around the Valle Roveto oil, which aim to promote the town and its local products.
