"Cantine aperte" in San Vincenzo Vecchio: flavors and experiences from the past

San Vincenzo Valle Roveto. After the event “Trekking Among the Olive Trees” held last Sunday, the 18th edition of “Frantoi Aperti in Valle Roveto” ends with the long-awaited day with open cellars in the old hamlet of San Vincenzo Vecchio (12th-13th of November).

Saturday, from 3 p.m. till late at night, and Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. till the afternoon, you will be able to enjoy local food and young olive oil, and appreciate some good music surrounded by the unique atmosphere created by this marvelous old town. This event gives you the chance to rediscover traditions and habits that belong to rural life. You can enjoy many amazing typical dishes inside the “cellars”, where you will find the atmosphere lived by our ancestors and have the chance to know the authentic hamlet of San Vincenzo Vecchio.

The food will be cooked by the very same inhabitants of the hamlet, who will also open their “cellars” to host the many visitors, showcasing the deep pride they put in their old popular traditions.

During these two days you will find games and workshops for the kids, a lot of good music, show-cooking, live painting, and musical exhibitions. On Sunday, be sure not to miss the two main events: at 10 a.m., in the Sala Consiliare of San Vincenzo Capoluogo you can join the conference “Olivicoltura in Valle Roveto, tra il cambiamento climatico e l’aumento dei costi. Le sfide future di una produzione d’eccellenza”, held to support the many workers of the oil industry while they face the many challenges posed by climate change. At 2:30 p.m., instead, in San Vincenzo Vecchio, it will be held the awarding ceremony of the 4th cultural competition “We Are the Children of the Valley”, joined by students of different schools.

This edition’s theme is “Extra-virgin olive oil: good habits that benefit our bodies and the environment”. At the end of the event there will be a tasting of olive oil hosted by Luciano Pollastri.
