Marsica’s mountains are an ideal place for the growth of this mysterious subterranean product that for a long period of time was just “found” under the soil. Recently, though, small local producers started growing truffles in small truffle beds. There are many different varieties of truffle - the humble scorzone truffle, the precious black truffle, and the rare white truffle - that can be found during different seasons. However, its unmistakable aroma belongs to a local enogastronomical culture passed on from generation to generation.

Marsica’s truffle, despite being highly demanded, has never been properly valorized. Often, it is used to compensate for the shortages in other, more famous areas of production. This is why the “Tartufai della Marsica” association reunite the main truffle producers trying to promote this excellent local product.
